Space Voyage Cachet Covers:
from Russia/USSR (CCCP)

  • The early Space Voyage Printed Cachet Covers, were all cancelled at Moscow and do not have a logo (Space Voyage identification), however the later covers do have a logo, as with the ASTP covers below, and these covers do have different cancels as noted.
  • Additional Russia/USSR Space Voyage cachet covers may be found in other specialized lists such as the Halley's Comet Covers list, etc.
  • For other Russian/USSR space cacheted covers you will find them in this list: "Space Covers 1: Russia/USSR (FDCs & Commemoratives)", and sometimes they are included in lists such as: the General Air and Space Covers lists, Smithsonian Milestones of Flight Commemorative Covers list, USSR Space Flight Covers with SWANSON Printed Cachets list, etc. etc. These lists can be found in the site index.

  • All items are covers unless otherwise noted.
  • All covers are the standard U.S. #6 size (approximately 6 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches), as collected in the USA, unless otherwise noted.
  • Foreign covers may be slightly smaller in size than the standard U.S. #6 size and if so, their size will NOT be noted. Any cover larger than a number 6 size will be noted or any item of an unordinary size will be so noted.
  • All covers are unaddressed unless otherwise noted.
  • All covers are cacheted unless otherwise noted. A brief description of the cachet is given of the event being commemorated.
  • If covers are autographed they are genuine, unless otherwise noted.
  • Where stamp(s) used on the item are of significance, such as being a space stamp or a flag stamp or related to the event or location, it will be described. Otherwise the stamp(s) used on the item may be a definitive issue or an unrelated commemorative issue, and will not be described.
  • Items listed here may not be listed in any particular order.

SALYUT 3 UNMANNED LAUNCH, with SPACE VOYAGE (marked) printed cachet. blue, orange and flesh tone cachet is for the launch of the Salyut 3 spacecraft, multipictured cachet shows the launch, the Salyut 3 emblem, the unmanned spacecraft docked with Soyuz 14 manned spacecraft and the two Soyuz 14 cosmonauts Yuri Artyukhin and Pavel Popovich, with printed text that reads in part: "Salyut 3 launched, June 24, 1974 ..... Preparation for the future orbital meeting of Soyuz and Apollo - Soyuz will be used in a system of international cooperation in emergency situations in space. -Shatalov, TASS, July 18, 1974". With USSR Sputnik 1 in orbit space stamp (#4007) and red Moscow handcancel of June 24, 1974.

SOYUZ 16 MANNED LANDING, with SPACE VOYAGE (marked) printed cachet. brown, orange and flesh tone cachet is for the landing of the Soyuz 16 spacecraft and cosmonauts, multipictured cachet shows the parachute landing, the spacecraft in orbit, the Soyuz 16 emblem, the ASTP emblem and the two cosmonauts Col. Anatoliy Filipchenko and N. Rukavishnikov, with printed text that reads in part: "ASTP Preparation Flight, spacecraft tests systems identical to ASTP Soyuz. Landing in Desert Dec. 8, 1974". With USSR Soyuz 11 memorial stamp (#3904) and red Moscow handcancel of Dec. 8, 1974.

10th ANNIVERSARY, WORLD'S FIRST SPACE WALK, BY COLONEL ALEXSEY ARKHUPOVICH LEONOV, with SPACE VOYAGE printed cachet. (Note: This cover has the Space Voyage logo, however the early covers issued by Space Voyage did not have the identifying logo). Cachet shows Leonov's space walk with printed text: "Leonov leaves spacecraft at 11:30 AM March 18, 1965 and walks 5.35 meters from spacecraft. Stamp on cover designed by Leonov." (cover has a Leonov Spacewalk USSR postage stamp, Sc.#4009, a nice tie in).

SPECIAL PRICED AS A SET. (NOTE: only 350 complete sets exist. Will send copy of notice from Space Voyage Cachets as to this fact).
