  • Where possible, items on this list are cataloged using the Ellington-Zwisler (E-Z) Rocket Mail Catalog, Volume One, 1967 and Volume Two, 1973.

  • When an item is illustrated, the item may have a number stamped on it by the rocket sponsor, please note that the number in the illustration may not be the same as in the item being offered, always check the printed text of the item for the correct number.
  • Additional abbreviations used on this list:

    • RRI = Rocket Research Institute, Inc.

  • All items are covers unless otherwise noted.
  • All covers are the standard U.S. #6 size (approximately 6 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches), as collected in the USA, unless otherwise noted.
  • Foreign covers may be slightly smaller in size than the standard U.S. #6 size and if so, their size will NOT be noted. Any cover larger than a number 6 size will be noted or any item of an unordinary size will be so noted.
  • All covers are unaddressed unless otherwise noted.
  • All covers are cacheted unless otherwise noted. A brief description of the cachet is given of the event being commemorated.
  • If covers are autographed they are genuine, unless otherwise noted.
  • Where stamp(s) used on the item are of significance, such as being a space stamp or a flag stamp or related to the event or location, it will be described. Otherwise the stamp(s) used on the item may be a definitive issue or an unrelated commemorative issue, and will not be described.
  • Items listed here may not be listed in any particular order.

(EZ-??) ROCKET RESEARCH INSTITUTE FLIGHT XXXIV SOUVENIR SHEET OF TWO, Mint blue on silver imperf souvenir sheet of 2 stamps commemorating the 25 years of RRI Rocketpost, 1947-1972. There are 2 stamps, one showing a rocket launch with title "Original sub- miler photo used on 1947 & 1962 seals" and the other showing a picture of S.V. James, the first with title "The first supervisor of RRI Student Programs". The 4 x 8 inch sheet is marked with the sheet number.

(EZ-??) ROCKET RESEARCH INSTITUTE FLIGHT XXXV SOUVENIR SHEET OF THREE, Mint blue imperf souvenir sheet of 3 stamps commemorating the Apollo 17 flight, December 7, 1972. There are 3 stamps showing rockets and different subjects: the Apollo 17 emblem; a picture of the lunar module on the moon taken by apollo 16 astronaut; astronaut walking on surface of the moon taken by apollo 16 astronaut. The 3-3/4 x 9 inch sheet is marked with the sheet number.

With a blue imperf single Rocket Research Institute Flight XXXV (EZ-?????) stamp showing rockets and a lunar rover vehicle on the moon, tied to cover by red rocket cancel that reads: "Apollo 17 launch day, Flown by RR1". Cover has a blue printed cachet commemorating the Apollo 17 flight to land man on the moon, and flown on Rocket 1 inscription. With additional RRI Flight XXXV blue printed cachet on the back. Front of cover is marked: with the cover number. (Dec. 07, 1972 is the launch date of Apollo 17, the last moonlanding flight).

With a blue imperf single Rocket Research Institute Flight XXXV (EZ-??) stamp showing rockets and the Apollo 17 emblem, tied to cover by red rocket cancel that reads: "Apollo 17 launch day, Flown by RR1". Cover has a blue printed cachet & printed text that reads in part: "Astro*Letter, the space launch message flown by RRI rocket during the NASA Apollo 17 Moon Flight ........." & commemorating the Apollo 17 flight to land man on the moon, and flown on Rocket 1 inscription. With additional RRI Flight XXXV blue printed cachet on the back. Front of cover is marked: with the cover number. The ASTRO*LETTER is sealed shut inside of the cover (on it is printed statements of presidents Eisenhower thru Nixon which point out their unanimous agreement for space exploration).

UNFLOWN ROCKET RESEARCH INSTITUTE ASTRO LETTER (SAMPLE) FOR APOLLO 17 FLIGHT, A three page cover size folded astro letter that has a black rubber stamp marked "SAMPLE, NOT ROCKET FLOWN" on the front page. It contains reproduced printed statements of presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, LB Johnson and Nixon, which point out their unanimous agreement on the national need for space exploration and on international cooperation in exploring the heavens which surround us. (These astro*letters were issued to be flown on RRI rockets, and have this message on the front page: "ASTRO*LETTER, The space launch message form flown by RRI rocket during the NASA Apollo 17 Moon Flight."
