There are no space FDCs on this Page

Many of the first day covers from other countries come with a descriptive filler card and will be so noted.

The local post covers are at the end of the list. Local post covers with their stamps affixed may have first day of issues too, these will be indicated in the description, and this termonology should not be confused the first day covers/cancels of the Postal Systems of the USA or other foreign countries.

Many local post covers were sent through the USPS mailing system and will most likely have the bar code markings on the front of the covers. Covers that are addressed will be so noted. On occasion the local post stamp(s) may get damaged by the USPS cancelling machine, if damage occurs it will be so noted.

General Notes

All items are covers unless otherwise noted.
All covers are the standard U.S. #6 size (approximately 6 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches), as collected in the USA, unless otherwise noted.
Foreign covers may be slightly smaller in size than the standard U.S. #6 size and if so, their size will NOT be noted. Any cover larger than a number 6 size will be noted or any item of an unordinary size will be so noted.
All covers are unaddressed unless otherwise noted.
All covers are cacheted unless otherwise noted. A brief description of the cachet is given of the event being commemorated.
If covers are autographed they are genuine, unless otherwise noted.
Where stamp(s) used on the item are of significance, such as being a space stamp or a flag stamp or related to the event or location, it will be described. Otherwise the stamp(s) used on the item may be a definitive issue or an unrelated commemorative issue, and will not be described.

GREAT BRITAIN/UNITED KINGDOM: POSTAL HISTORY COVER WITH MOTORCYCLE STAMP, Cover has a very light UK cancel unreadable except for the year date of 2005. There are 3 commemorative stamps on this cover, one with a value of 40p showing a motorcycle & titled: "1969 BSA Rocket 3 early 3 cylinder 'superbike'." This stamp & another stamp at the top of the cover are also cancelled by the postal bar code line (probably on arrival in the USA). Cover has a blue Royal Mail Airmail label affixed, cover is evenly cut open on the right side of the envelope and has a pen address. Cover size: 4-1/2" x 6-1/2". (Backside of cover has a machine cancel of Manasota FL Oct. 8, 2005).

Souvenir sheet has 4 stamps depicting various modes of postal service: Ship, Post Rider, Train and man on motorcycle (the 30d stamp at lower right of sheet). Black Greece Official printed cachet, of a post horn & Hermes Head with printed text in Greek. IMAGE

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA: SPECTACULAR DOUBLE CANCELLED USPS MOTORCYCLE FIRST DAY COVER: Original cover with the 5 cent coil motorcycle stamp (#1899) & First Day of Issue machine cancel San Francisco CA Oct. 10, 1983 (along with a 17 cent Electric Auto stamp) and with an Artcraft engraved printed cachet showing two views of the 1913 Pope Motorcycle and printed text that reads in part: "1913 Pope Motorcycle, 5 cent Coil Stamp, Transportation series 1983." Cover again received the official First Day of Issue pictorial hand cancel of a "motorcycle", from Sturgis SD August 7, 2006 on the new USPS 39 cent stamp (#4085) depicting the "Indian 1940" motorcycle. (I Only prepared this one cover like this, it may be unique unless someone else did the same).

USA: DOUBLE CANCELLED USPS MOTORCYCLE STAMP FIRST DAY CARD WITH FMF LOCAL POST STAMP AFFIXED: Original Carlysbad Caverns National Park NM postal card was first cancelled with a pictorial hand cancel (showing a woman driving a motorcycle) with inscription: *Motor Maids Rally Sta. Cherokee NC* July 6, 2004, (date is hard to read), card again received the official First Day of Issue pictorial hand cancel of a "motorcycle", from Sturgis SD August 7, 2006 on a USPS 39 cent stamp (#4088) depicting the "Harley Davidson 1965" motorcycle. Cover also has a small buff colored FMF LP stamp depicting a helmeted man on motorcycle and tied to the card with the FMF LP cancellation. (Only 2 cards with this combination of cancels were prepared).

USA: UNUSUAL USPS MOTORCYCLE SINGLE STAMP (#4086) + MOTORCYCLE BAR CODE LABEL FIRST DAY COVER WITH FMF LOCAL POST STAMP AFFIXED: Official First Day of Issue pictorial hand cancel showing a "motorcycle", from Sturgis SD August 7, 2006 which ties BOTH the 39 cent stamp showing the "Cleveland 1918" Motorcycle & the self adhesive Bar Code Label that came with the cellophane wrapped pane of Motorcycle stamps, the label reads: "American Motorcycles, Item: 460415, 20 x $.39=$7.80, package not suitable for philatelic archiving". (The label is mounted directly below the Motorcycle stamp). Cover has a large blue FMF Local Post stamp depicting a helmeted man on motorcyle and the LP stamp is ALSO tied to cover by the USPS cancel and the FMF LP cancel. (Only 3 covers with the Motorcycle bar code label were prepared this way).

Four covers in the set, each cover has a different USPS 39 cent motorcycle stamp affixed and FD cancelled. Each cover has a Lemuria Local Post stamp depicting a motorcyle and each LP stamp is ALSO tied to cover by the USPS cancel + Frasketi's "LPCS #L-5" purple rubber stamp cancel (LPCS stands for Local Post Collectors Society, the #L-5 stands for my Life Member #5 in the society). (Each FDC has a single Lemuria LP stamp affixed and there are two different Lemuria stamps in this set). Only 4 sets of these FDCs were prepared. (NOTE: Lemuria LP ceased operation in 1995 when Ken Jenkins died, and these mint stamps in my possession were used on these FDC's. Only 2 of the 4 covers are shown in the image). IMAGE

USA: DOUBLE LOCAL POST COVER, NORTH GEORGIA LOCAL POST (NGLP) & FMF LOCAL POST (FMFLP) COMMEMORATIVE COVER: with a hand cancel of Christmas FL, Dec. 24, 2004 on a 37 cent "Happy Birthday" stamp (for the birthday of Jesus). The 25 cent NGLP stamp shows Santa driving a motorcycle & saying "Cool". Cover also has a FMF LP stamp of a different drawing of Santa driving a motorcycle. Both LP stamps are LP cancelled with their own appropriate LP cancels. No cachet is on this cover and cover has a rubber stamp address.

POLAND: GO CART PICTORIAL CANCELLED POSTAL CARD: (while this is not a motorcyle item, this seems the logical place to list such a card) Postal card printed stamp shows a sailing ship which has a boxed pictorial cancel showing a helmeted man driving a go cart, postmarked Opole 1 June 14, 1975, cancel inscription is in polish that reads: " II Eliminacja Druzynowych kartingowych mistrzostw euyropy" which I am told translates to: "2nd elimination European Team Championship in carting in Opole town". There is no cachet on this card.
