Heritage Crafts Apollo 14 cover.
One of the SPECIAL Apollo 14/Freedom 7 Heritage Crafts printed cachets.
This cover has the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Information Center
(VIC) cancel, with the "Open" NASA Globe in upper left side of the pictorial cancel.

Notes

  • Heritage Crafts cachets were produced by Dave Ouelette who worked at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida for one of the Space Contractors.
  • Heritage Crafts cachets exist for all but one of the the manned Apollo flights, this being the Apollo 11 flight, The only other Apollo 11 cachet that comes closest to the basic HERITAGE CRAFTS cachet is those issued by Dow-Unicover and these covers were distributed by Heritage Crafts (probably designed them too for Dow-Unicover). Look at the bottom of this page to go to my list of these Dow-Unicover covers.
  • The Apollo 13 Heritage Craft cacheted covers are on a separate list, Look at the bottom of this page to go to Apollo 13 Heritage Crafts covers.
  • The later Apollo flights starting with Apollo 13 have two different designs for the Heritage Crafts cachets, one with the Apollo emblem and one with a moonlanding scene.

  • all autographs on covers are genuine unless otherwise noted.
  • An AUTOPEN autograph is one that is made by a machine using a template, rather than the individual signing in person, and a cover with an autopen autograph is accordingly priced lower than a genuine autograph.
  • The abbreviation "VIC" used on this list is the special Kennedy Space Center space pictorial cancel that has the Open NASA Globe, and is from the Visitors Information Center and is only used for launch covers.
  • Kennedy Space Center machine cancels are scarce on any cover for dates other than the launch date, until after the Apollo 11 flight. Starting with Apollo 12 other machine cancel dates became more plentiful.
  • Kennedy Space Center hand cancels and postal meter cancels are scarce on any date, no matter what flight.

General Notes

  • All items are covers unless otherwise noted.
  • All covers are the standard U.S. #6 size (approximately 6 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches), as collected in the USA, unless otherwise noted.
  • Foreign covers may be slightly smaller in size than the standard U.S. #6 size and if so, their size will NOT be noted. Any cover larger than a number 6 size will be noted or any item of an unordinary size will be so noted.
  • All covers are unaddressed unless otherwise noted.
  • All covers are cacheted unless otherwise noted. A brief description of the cachet is given of the event being commemorated.
  • If covers are autographed they are genuine, unless otherwise noted.
  • Where stamp(s) used on the item are of significance, such as being a space stamp or a flag stamp or related to the event or location, it will be described. Otherwise the stamp(s) used on the item may be a definitive issue or an unrelated commemorative issue, and will not be described.
