Joe: I enjoyed the web site, I have lived on several range stations, including GBI, Turk,Antigua andAscension. Best times of my life. Several old timers are still around, You'll probably remember ernie Matisz, he is still at ascension, George Cousens is ISM at Antigua, and Herbie Etzler was at Ascension in 2001 when I was last there. thanks for the interesting web page. | Comments: | Need to have pictures of Mayaguana. I was stationed there with the 838th working on the runway extension and preparing the area for the storage tanks. I have some pictures of the island that I made as a panoramic view. I can't remember the dates. Was originally with the 347 EAB, Hdqtrs. Co which came to Orlando in Feb. 1952. I believe the Battalion was originally a reserve unit from Asheville, NC. S-3 Officers name was Lt. Hollingsworth. Would love to see something written about this unit. Have tried unsuccessfully to find anything about the 347th from Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. to Orlando. |
