Hello all! I'm born and raised here in GBI and I'm very curious
how life was on base here in gbi and I'm looking for some more insight, I've never explored the base I always drive by but I've never seen it all I'm looking for maybe some Ariel photos and maybe a layout of the base. I'm really wishing I could find some cool artifacts but I'm sure they were all taken by now. unless you guys know where some stuff is stashed lol ! thank you from GBI |

| Comments: | I lived in Antigua from 1966 to 1972 while my dad worked at the tracking station there. His name was Verlin Steve Norris and he worked for RCA. He was definitely an Eastern Test Range rat for most of his life. After Antigua he went to Jupiter, then Grand Bahama and after that closed, he went back Jupiter at the Jonathan Dickinson Missile Tracking Annex (JDMTA). He finally retired from JDMTA in 2008. He was working for CSC Raytheon when he retired. After he retired he moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2014 at the age of 73. We had many incredible adventures on land and sea during the 6 years of my childhood that I spent on Antigua. My dad really enjoyed the work and the people he worked with on the islands up and down the Eastern Test Range. Range rats are definitely a special breed. |

Hi Joe, I'd never seen your site before. Some great info for novices and also some people who hadn't ventured deep into the hobby before. I just got back from NTSS '15 in Portland,OR with a fistful of secondary tier covers for the ASTP for a new exhibit that I'm making. I have six of those for places with which I'm not familiar. Hello, I am the granddaughter of John J Facker who spoke a lot about down range while I was growing up. My grandfather has been passed away for 14 years but I still think of him daily and miss him to this day., He was such an extraordinary grandfather and human being. I would love if anyone on here had worked with him and if you could fill me in on any stories about my grandfather so that I can add them to our family history for all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. |
