Handpainted Cacheted Covers by artist Hal G. Ansink |
|
Below are a few of the covers in my collection produced by good friend Hal Ansink, who I have known for many years. Illustrating his art work here is a good way of showing how much I appreciate his artistic talent and knowing and visiting with him and his wife Joan over the years. (Continued at the bottom of the page).
29 cent Desert Storm FDC, #2551, July 2, 1991 a Hal Ansink multicolor handpainted cachet, (number 22 of 25 covers)
August 1, Great Ace Day 1987 commemorative cover cancelled "Stamp Fort" Waukegan IL., a Hal Ansink multicolor handpainted cachet, (number 75 of 100 covers)
25 cent Traditional Christmas FDC, #2427, Oct. 19, 1989 a Hal Ansink multicolor handpainted cachet, (number 18 of 20 covers)
(Continued from top of page) Even though Hal and I were both members of the American First Day Cover Society (AFDCS) and the Art Cover Exchange (ACE) we had never met in person, however we had exchanged covers through the mail which is what ACE is all about. In the mid 1980's Hal and his wife were planning on visiting near Fort Myers and he contacted me saying that he would like to meet me as well as two other area collectors, Don Mangus and Ralph G. Wilson, who were also members of the AFDCS and ACE. A meeting was planned at my home for us four collectors who had similar interests of first day covers and creating our own handmade/handpainted covers. Hal finally arrived and met me and Don Mangus, however he learned that Ralph Wilson was ailing and he suggested that we take a ride to North Fort Myers and visit Ralph, which was very thoughtful of him. We visited with Raph and afterwards had lunch and that day was the beginning of our friendship. Thereafter whenever Hal and his wife Joan would visit this area we collectors would get together for a dinner date and to get caught up on what's been happening in our life including our first day cover activities and collecting interests. (Ralph Wilson moved to Illinois after Hal's first visit and has since died). |
